A HEALTHY MORNING ROUTINE & TOP 5 TOOLS TO JUMPSTART THE DAY
Starting your day in a caring manner leads the way for a much more positive day as a whole. Here is a simple, healthy routine I generally follow and five top tools I reach for almost every morning to jump start my day in a healthy way making life a bit easier, more productive and a lot more enjoyable.
1. CREATE THE BEST-TASTING COFFEE EVER!
I love my organic java and, believe me, I have tried every coffee making method under the sun. (Ask my family!), but this is my favorite method: pour over coffee! I love it both for the rich flavor and ease of use. I find this coffee carafe to be a top pick as it comes with a stainless steel filter and cork stopper to keep coffee warm and has cup markings on the side to ensure you are pouring just the right amount of hot water to make your perfect pot of jo!
And, don’t forget to try these easy tips to make drinking coffee a lot healthier!
2. LOAD UP ON VITAMIN C.
Citrus water is packed with Vitamin C and many other supportive nutrients so it is a great way to load up first thing in the morning. This electric tea kettle is a top choice to make warm citrus water as it is so reasonably priced for what it can do! It can boil water at various temperatures and it has a stainless steel interior rather than the harmful plastic liners many tea kettles now have. Yes, it is great for morning citrus water, but great for herbal teas later in the day, too! The various temperatures option is key to brew the perfect cup of great tasting tea depending on the type of tea leaf you have chosen. Remember: Lemon water should be warm, not hot so that you maintain the enzymes and vitamins in it. I heat mine to 140 degrees.
Here is why I drink lemon water a lot.
3. MAKE THE BED, PESTICIDE-FREE!
I make the bed nearly every morning, and I thank myself every time I go in my bedroom throughout out the day. It just looks so much better and I look forward to crawling in there that night again! Technically, this tool – so soft organic bedding — begins at night, but I do love waking up knowing I have spent my slumber time without pesticides.
Ever wonder if you are actually getting enough sleep? Here is a study on how much sleep you really need.
4. CLEAR THE MIND AND SET POSITIVE INTENTIONS.
This meditation app is so helpful if your mind wanders like mine. I try to squeeze in a bit of meditation most mornings and there are dozens of choices for every need to guide you through. There are loads of time choices, too, depending on how much you can set aside to devote to it.
Meditation is great for growth and stress-relief, but here are even more ideas to relax easier and stress less.
5. SIP ON SUPERFOODS!
Green smoothies do ensure I try and reach my goal of eating greens every day. It feels great to start the day with a smoothie with a handful of spinach, kale or whatever else I picked up that week. I have had this blender for years now and it never lets me down. It creates some magically smooth concoctions that I can sip on all morning! It is great for whipping up a fast soup, too!

A HEALTHY EVENING ROUTINE & TOP 5 TOOLS TO UNWIND & RELAX
Now, for the evening wind-down . . .
Sleep is a non-negotiable in order to look and feel our best and for our bodies to reset. Sleeping well is one of my biggest challenges so I try to create a routine to help get my sleep as I know it is a critical time for our immune system to recharge, to detoxify and for our brains to clean house.
1. UNWIND WITH A WARM DETOX BATH.
In winter, I turn to Epsom salt baths in the evening to help me sleep as well as fortify my body with magnesium and throw in there a bit of a detox all at the same time. I buy my Epsom salts in bulk and keep a glass jar by my tub to fill the bath. I also use these vitamin C dechlorination tablets as well to counteract the chlorine in my water. These are Pharmaceutical Grade Vitamin C and remove chlorine and chloramines from your bath as well as meet dechlorination requirements of the EPA’s Clean Water Act.
Here is an article on why it is so important to get rid of the chlorine in your bath water and how vitamin C gets the job done.
2. BREATHE CLEAN, FRESH AIR.
2. Lots of research is appearing on indoor air pollution and it’s poor effects on our health. Since we spend a good chunk of our lives in our bedrooms, having an air purifier in the rooms where we spend the most time just makes sense. Here is one that pops up a lot as an effective, reliable mobile air purifier.
3. CHOOSE A NICE SCENT.
Diffusing essential oils is a nice way to signal wind down and this diffuser blends in nicely with most decors and gets high marks. Some great oils to diffuse for chill time is lavender, frankincense and cedar wood.
4. BLOCK OUT DISTURBANCES.
I am hooked on this highly-rated sound machine that creates white noise to help me sleep more soundly. This one has been around for a long time and considered one of the most reliable. It even has a travel size, that I have on my own wishlist.
5. GET SLEEPY!
Tea time at night is another ritual that can help you relax and drift off. That is with herbal teas – without the caffeine. Here is one of my favorite herbal teas for relaxation that I reach for often with its refreshing and light lemon flavor.
